Thank you!!
Your single act of letting us know what the weather is goes a long way to helping others (and you for that fact) know what the weather is around Humboldt County - that is, if you choose to believe our highly unscientific weather reports!
We invite you back in 30 minutes to again share what your local weather is!

Yes, we know... it is all fun and games until somebody gets hurt! So, here is the actual weather for Eureka California (the designated center of Humboldt County) for anybody that desires to know what the weather really is like.
This actual scientific weather report is provided by twitter accounts: @weather95501 and @weather95521 which update every 15 minutes - and come directly from the National Weather Service.
HumWeather.Com is a community weather reporting service based upon the twitter system and powered by those who want to help us track the local weather.
Every 30 minutes we send out a new tweet asking those who follow @humweather if the weather is raining, foggy, or sunny.
The website and service was created by John Abela. The idea came from a few friends hanging out together at a local HumLug lunch.
Yes, we are fully aware that a weather reporting system based upon actual humans goes against the grain of things... but hey, this IS Humboldt County after all! Power to the people - even if they are too bonged out to know what the weather outside is! And yes, we do use military time... why? Because we can... and it makes most people have to think (something rare here in Humboldt County at times) so if you are one of those who just counting to 12 hurts, than we understanding that counting to 24 must really hurt... so can always go here for some help!
You can help HumWeather.Com grow by joining twitter (if you are not already a member) than following our @humweather account. Than every ~30 minutes when we tweet a new report questionier, simply click one of the three links provided - depending on if your local weather is raining, foggy, or you somehow have some sun!
At this time we have no plans of putting links to the three options on our website. Part of the fun of HumWeather.Com is being a member of the twitter service! It is free and helps gather together locals interested in the weather!
HumWeather.Com is as we have said a "human powered" weather reporting system. That means, for good or bad, our weather is based upon feedback by people - not the weather channel.
Because of this, we have to remember that our weather reports are (mostly) intended to be taken in good nature (pun perhaps might be intended) and nothing here should be taken as scientific results.
We also have to remember that HumWeather.Com is not limited to members who have to register with us in order to submit a weather report. We let anybody that wants to submit a weather report the ability to submit their "raining/foggy/sunny" weather report. Regardless of whether they are a citizen of Humboldt County or Timbuktu.
We do try to limit, from a software level, the ability for non-humans (i.e.: bots, spiders, etc) from submitting a weather report. We also try to limit the amount of reports from a single person - but at the end of the day, trying to limit a single person from submitting multiple reports would have to be done by using ip-addresses... yet this would totally defeat the ability for multiple people in a single office the ability from submitting reports. We do try to set a cookie that expires in 25 minutes to try to help one person from submitting a given date/time report twice... but cookies are easy enough to delete or disable, so we do not place too much abuse-denial-techniques in our cookie.
The realistic facts are simple: This is a non-scientific weather reporting "service" (and we use that in the most loosest since)... it is an attempt to have a bit of fun with twitter and local community interaction!
